Buffalo racing tour in Makepung Village Bali Island

When we hear the phrase: "Bull-Racing", perhaps our thoughts drifted to the island of Madura - Indonesia , famous for the "Bull". Turns out there "Buffalo Racing" or "Buffalo Racing" which is just as popular among the people of Bali Island, especially in the West, known by the name "Makepung". It is understandable why the people of Bali choose competing buffaloes than cows, because cows are animals mounts used by Lord Shiva and is considered as a holy animal by Hindus. In Bali, especially in the West, around the city of the State, Makepung This is a traditional event conducted several times each year, oddly enough this Makepung apparently not very popular for people other Bali section.

The day before the event, the arena was lined with Makepung Racer from various villages, bringing with them the buffalo best. I've never seen so many buffalo somewhere as I witnessed this Mekepung area. Buffalo are raised and treated like an athlete the best. It is said that before the race, the buffalo was given a special food menu, full of herbs that produce extra energy. Apparently "doping" is not a forbidden thing this arena:)

Those who are able, bring their buffalo by using trucks, while the less able, to walk quite a distance from their villages and chariot drawn by using a motorcycle taxi motorcycles. At night, the atmosphere like a "Night Market", colored with various, good food and attractions stage with music that sting and certainly does not lag-alcoholic beverages.

Before dawn, the owners of the buffalo that will championship, made preparations with certain rituals and buffalo decorate them with accessories, colorful accessories. Apparently, this Buffalo team also has the names of exotic, such as: Wiro Sableng, Juwita Night and others.

But… we appeal to the event organizer Makepung and whatever race or animals, to impose a strict regulation on the treatment of these animal racing. As in every race, some win and some lose, but at this Makepung event, instead of "The Bad Loser" seems to get the most rousing applause from the audience.
